Testimonial
to the work of furniture designer and
maker, David Halcro.
I am an
architect with a long standing interest in modern
furniture, For about a year my wife and I had been
looking
for a unique sideboard. During the 2006
Edinburgh Festival.
almost by accident, we came across the work of David
Halcro in an exhibition of Scottish furniture makers.
The wooden sideboard on display, the design of which was
influenced by David's interest in boat
building,stood out
from all the other exhibits. It was what we
had been
searching for. We commissioned him to design
and make
for us a similar sideboard to fit a particular space in
our
entrance hall. It had to be longer than the one on
display
and we also wanted matching storage bins on casters
to
slide under it. David understood our requirements,
exactly.
The sideboard and storage bins he produced attract more
comment from visitors to our home
than our authentic
Eames lounge chair and ottoman, and Le Corbusier
chaise longue combined.
